Our theme for Black History Month was “Celebrating the Legacy of the Black Family.” The congregation was invited to wear pan-African attire during the entire month of February. To celebrate the family, free photos were provided to all families the last two Sunday’s of the month. Two guest speakers joined us for the celebration. On February 18th, Reverend Dr. Stacey Edwards-Dunn, the Executive Pastor of Trinity United Church brought a powerful word of encouragement. Pastor Arthur, Senior Pastor of the historical 16th Street Baptist Church of Birmingham, Alabama preached the last Sunday of the month. Also, we were educated on the “Impact of generational trauma on the Black Family” by Reverend Jocelyn Jones.
